How 45-year-Old Man Committed Suicide, in Ilorin, Police Contacts Family

On Friday morning, in the Nasfat area of Eyenkorin, Ilorin, kwara state capital, a tragic incident unfolded as a 45-year-old man, identified as Beautruis Yila from Gombe state, took his own life by hanging himself on a tree in a bush.

An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, told National Pilot on Saturday that the incident may have been triggered by financial or family pressure.

“It’s a tragic incident, and we can only speculate about what might have led him to take such a drastic step. Maybe it was financial pressure or family issues, but we may never know for sure,” the eyewitness told National Pilot.

The eyewitness added that Yila left behind a written note containing the contact information of his family members.

During National Pilot visit to the scene of the incident on Saturday, it was observed that the community was still reeling from the shock of the tragedy.

However, when National Pilot contacted the Kwara State Police Command Spokesperson, Toun-Ejire Adeyemi via a phone call on Saturday, she confirmed the incident.

“We received a report about the incident and our team promptly responded. The body has been deposited in the mortuary, and we are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“His name is Mr. Beautruis Yila from Gombe state. He hanged himself on a tree leaving a note behind which contains the phone number of his wife

“We have also contacted the wife and she will be coming down to Ilorin to claim the corpse,” She stated.
